If you’re operating a vehicle or fleet within the state of Virginia, it’s important to note that any vehicle requires an annual Virginia Safety inspection in addition to the typical federal DOT inspection. Plus, state-level DOT inspections are required for any company-operated vehicle used for business purposes outside the vehicle’s original registered state.
If you own a gasoline-powered commercial truck with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of over 10,000 lbs, you’ll also have to pass a state emissions inspection on top of the annual Virginia Safety inspection. FMSCA Inspections
At Elite Truck & Fleet Service, we also offer FMCSA inspections, also known as Federal DOT inspections, to ensure your commercial fleet and drivers comply with regulations and laws set by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). Our authorized inspectors perform comprehensive reviews of the vehicle, driver, and accompanying documentation to ensure safety on the road.
FMCSA inspections cover six categories: credentials, brakes, lights, cargo, tires, and vehicle parts, including steering, suspension, and other critical systems. During the inspection, proper vehicle registration and the associated DOT number are provided by the owner of the vehicle to ensure legal and proper documentation of inspection results and forms. As part of our DOT inspection process, all evaluations and reports are conducted in-shop to ensure proper compliance with federal regulations.
